EP LOCAL NEWS - LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
I am writing today to express my support for Lisa Toomey to be reelected in the upcoming Eden Prairie City Council election. As someone who has known Lisa for many years, I can personally attest to her dedication to our community and her tireless work to make it a better place for all of us.
Lisa has always been an advocate for our residents. She was a longtime executive director for Meals on Wheels, currently runs the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund, and is a longtime Lioness Lion. She also serves as the treasurer for The PROP Shop.
She has been involved with many other organizations throughout the years and has never shied away from taking on leadership roles. While serving on the city council, Lisa still works with local organizations and represents the city on a few commissions and boards. She really listens to neighbors’ concerns and helps find innovative solutions to their problems.
I believe Lisa is the type of leader we need to keep on our city council. I encourage everyone to join me in supporting Lisa Toomey for reelection to the Eden Prairie City Council in the upcoming election.
Gary Watkins, Eden Prairie
My name is Gregg Fletcher, and I am a 30-year resident of Eden Prairie. I am endorsing Lisa Toomey in running for reelection for our city council. I support Lisa for many reasons, as she is a hardworking and conscientious individual. She is also the president of the board of directors for the Eden Prairie Police Crime Prevention Fund, of which I am a part. Lisa has also been an active member of the Eden Prairie Lions Club for many years.
As long as I’ve known Lisa (over 20 years, in fact), she’s never shied away from leadership and has the right city council experience to continue to help our city in many ways with her knowledge on how to get things done.
On Nov. 5, please join me and cast your vote for Lisa Toomey!
Gregg Fletcher, Eden Prairie
I plan to cast my vote to reelect Lisa Toomey for EP City Council.
I have known Lisa for many years and have had the privilege of serving on the EP PROP Shop board with her since 2016. For close to 25 years, she has devoted her time supporting and developing programs within Eden Prairie for those in need. Lisa was the executive director of Meals on Wheels for eight years. She has also been involved with developing many of the Eden Prairie Police Department programs, including the seasonal “Shop With a Cop.”
Since being elected, Lisa has taken additional roles on some commissions, representing the city as a council member. Lisa has remained a board member and a volunteer with Eden Prairie nonprofits and civic groups, including the Crime Prevention Fund, for 16 years. Some of the donations were used to buy both K-9s.
Won’t you join me in voting for Lisa so she can continue to build on the relationships she has made by participating in town hall meetings and working with the other city council members, city staff and community members?
Mary Mackmiller, Eden Prairie
I attended the League of Women Voters Forum last week and for me the choice is clear. Their extensive commitment to the community, their civic engagement, and their political efficacy have served them and us well. It is with great enthusiasm that I endorse PG Narayanan and Lisa Toomey for Eden Prairie City Council. They have been extensively involved with the community on and off the council. They both engage with residents and solicit their feedback to ensure the City is meeting and addressing their needs. I am continually impressed by their passion and dedication for public safety, the enhancement of EP parks, and their active involvement with non-profits. Their experience and commitment are assets to the council and the City. It has been both a privilege and an honor to work alongside them, and I am confident that their leadership will continue to bring immense benefits to Eden Prairie and the community.

After serving on the Eden Prairie City Council for 20 years, I can confidently state that it is extremely rare that a candidate for City Council comes with the kind of qualifications that Lisa Toomey possesses. After moving to the city, Lisa quickly became involved in multiple organizations and rapidly developed deep roots in our community. Look at the list of things she has done for our city! She has served as director for the local Meals on Wheels, she is on the Planning Commission for the city. She has worked for the Eden Prairie Community Foundation, the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund, the EP Lioness, and many other organizations. Her understanding of the needs and wants of this community is incredible.
On top of this, she is approachable, intelligent, thoughtful and dedicated to keeping Eden Prairie a great place to live. She will approach the job of City Council member without an agenda dictated by some national political platform. Lisa can hit the ground running! Please join me in supporting her this Fall.

Retired Mayor, City of Eden Prairie
Shout it from the mountain tops! "Lisa Toomey is running for Eden Prairie City Council this fall." Finally, we have some good news in these confusing times. She comes with a proven record that she is an independent thinker who will speak out on contentious and unfair assumptions. She will take the lead by modeling the behavior of a committed citizen who has always stood by the side of the less fortunate.
Lisa will be the reasoned voice in the room while others struggle for answers. She is a leader who has a rich base of support honed in community involvements such as Meals on Wheels, the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund, The PROP Shop and much more. Simply put, Lisa will bring her positive, upbeat energy to the public discussion. She is the voice of reason Eden Prairie so richly deserves.

I have had the pleasure of working with Lisa Toomey for over 15 years, and I am convinced she would make a terrific City Council Member. Lisa has all the right characteristics to be a fair, nonpartisan, hardworking, and honest member of the City Council.
Lisa is very generous with her time and talents, working in leadership roles in many Eden Prairie nonprofits and civic organizations. She is very passionate about helping people and making sure that Eden Prairie is the best place for all residents. We need Lisa working for us; vote for Lisa Toomey for City Council!

Eden Prairie Resident
Lisa Toomey is the living example of the best that Eden Prairie has to offer in an involved, passionate, and impactful citizen. She has joined or led various civic groups from the Eden Prairie Crime Fund, to Meals on Wheels, to the PROP Shop. For 19 years living in Eden Prairie, she has been someone who gives and gives and then gives more. To have her perspective, her experience, and her compassion for others represented on the City Council day in and day out would be so incredibly valuable to our five-person team as we work to listen, represent, and then take action for the common good.

Mayor, City of Eden Prairie
It is with great delight that I offer this endorsement of Lisa Toomey for Eden Prairie City Council.
I have worked and served with Lisa on the board of Prop Shop in Eden Prairie for many years. She is bright, and full of energy and enthusiasm for this work. She is extremely well-acquainted with the Eden Prairie community, the police department, city programs and the non-profit sector.
Her many, many hours of volunteer work, in a multitude of community organizations, have been driven by a deep compassion for those on the margins, a commitment to hard work and a determination to keep Eden Prairie safe, healthy, and financially sound.
When Lisa told me that she was considering a run for city council, I was thrilled. “Yes,” I said. “Do it! You’re exactly what we need!”
Join me in casting your vote for Lisa Toomey.

The landscape and skyline of Eden Prairie are changing rapidly with all the current construction seemingly going on everywhere. New apartment complexes, new streets, new businesses ready to open, and probably the largest change of all is with the construction of the Southwest Light Rail line due to open in 2023. In driving around the same old streets, some of the familiar landmarks are gone.
We need someone to help us understand some of these changes. We need someone who can recognize and help solve some of the problems that may come with these changes.
That someone is Lisa Toomey, a candidate for the Eden Prairie City Council. I am voting for Lisa and I urge you to do the same.
Her background for community volunteer work is tops. Lisa has put in countless hours working for the residents of our city. She understands the issues and can help find solutions to problems. She works well with people from all segments of our community.
Besides all this, it will be nice to have another woman on our city council who is willing to work and listen to us.
Vote for Lisa Toomey.

Eden Prairie Resident and retired teacher
Years ago, I was serving the community as a member of the Eden Prairie Crime Fund. Lisa Toomey was our volunteer leader.
I only served one year because, frankly, the team worked too hard for me. At the time, I was finishing my doctorate (philology) at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom and simultaneously ministering to a growing congregation here in Eden Prairie. With all the commitments, I simply could not keep up.
During my year of service, I admired every crime fund team member for their creativity, energy and commitment to our community. I was so pleased at the abundance of such wonderful volunteers who were willing to work so hard behind the scenes to make our community great. I was also amazed at the abilities of our leader (Lisa Toomey) to multi-task, to motivate, to delegate and to organize. She did all these things successfully in a very low-key and friendly manner.
Temperamentally, Lisa is self-effacing and other-oriented. She approaches leadership by means of friendly interaction and well-organized communication. She is amazingly nice and yet also an adept manager of conflict in those few occasions when it is unavoidable. Great listeners use their eyes, ears and heart to communicate. Lisa is naturally gifted at mastering all these skills. I thought she was a great communicator on many levels.
As a team member, I also found her to be intellectually brilliant at solving intractable problems and figuring out new ways to approach and to resolve perennial problems.
I hope you will consider voting for this leader to serve with the other fine members of our City Council.
Our community deserves the best, and Lisa Toomey will represent us all in a superlative manner.
